I'm not gay or anything (though I can be a bit happy at times!) but if that Michael Hogan guy wasn't all the way on the opposite side of the world, I think he & I would have to consider marriage:

Even if it is a mental illness, I've gotten, mmmm... eight or ten more since that picture to help me through my convalescence.

Here are my lap steels and reso's. This photo shows (from left)a very early crackle finish Oahu, a 1952 Oahu Diana, a modified 1952 modified Supro Twin, an early 50's Silvertone with Jr. Brown's signature on the top, and a late 30's modified Kay.

Image
This photo is of a Tiesco copy of an EKO that I rescued from a trash can. It had no pickguard or electronics. It is set up as a lap steel and is an absolute killer guitar!

Image
Here is my custom D8 that I built over the winter of 2012 - 2013. It is currently my main steel guitar.

Image
Here are my resonator guitars, (from left) a Dean metal body converted to lap guitar, my 2001 Dobro Jerry Douglas Model (my main Dobro), a squareneck Johnson and a solid body reso that I put together from a Chinese body assembly and a neck from an electric guitar, I call this a "Faux-rite" or "Mos-wrong" guitar.

I need a late Thirties 7-string bridge/tailpiece for a restoration. Anybody? I think they parts are the same for lap steels and Grandes. I have a D-7 .Grande.

They're not as impressive as some of these other great instruments but here are my 2 lapsteels. I got the Chandler RH-2 as an impulse buy and the '68 Supro was a wicked bargain (the New Englander coming out in me) on Cragislist with the case, legs, bar & even a late 60s Mel Bay book!

ImageThis is a 60"s Teisco model H-905. Kind of rare the only other ones I've seen were one on ebay that was one number different in the serial number. This one is played by Sonny Rhodes. You can't see the band till 1:43 into it.

Now Plank # 2 is been played for couple of months. Kinda boomy on low strings trough bass side, but I was Kindly advised to get a "Fish & Chips" EQ pedal.(thanx Scott Duckworth) It's still getting a glossier fretboard, better tuners, handle underneath peghead and a "Hawaiian" type stand out of a sturdy mike stand which moves it to console dept.

A few more since the last time I posted, a 1946 K&F and an uncatalogued Rickenbacker from about the same time:

I ended up selling the K&F, but the Rick is staying put. I always preferred their wood-bodied steels over the bakelite ones.

Orphan stringmaster neck redone in a few light coats of Butterscotch. It had been slathered in red polyurethane paint when I found it.
