I'm sorry to say that I must cancel my appearance in St. Louis this year. My Dad is gravely ill in the hospital and I need to stay here with him.
I wish you all a great convention and hope to see you there next year.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Dad has been in the ICU for over a week now, having had surgery for a large brain-bleed. He is reasonably stable right now but its been touch-and-go every day, with his condition swinging up and down. He is mostly asleep and can open his eyes occasionally - hears us speak and can orient to us, occasionally can squeeze a hand and the nurse tells us that he spoke his name this morning at 4am, which is a big, positive development. My brother and sister are both here with me but sooner or later they'll need to return to Massachussetts and Seattle. Actually, we're in Staten Island, NY where none of us lives (Dad was driving through S.I. on his way to New Jersey when this happened), so the hotel bills are mounting! Fortunately, things aren't too busy for me at work, so I can afford to take the time off to be with him for now. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.
Jim

All the best to you and your dad Jim. I went through a close one with my dad last year and a wonderful Doctor found the problem and soon he was back from the brink. At 87 that is a blessing. I wish the same for you and your dad.
