If you were a new player what PSG would you start on?

If I was a new player now, a Jackson Steel would probably be the first steel. I actually started playin' on a 1974 beginner's Emmons. It was Christmas of 1999 when I started. I rented a Sierra Artist S-10 with a raised fretboard, but didn't have a bar at the time, so I just picked and got a feel for the pedals. I only had steel picks at the time, and used my twin brother's guitar amplifier. My first steel was a wonderful steel. Played it until 2004, when I bought a GFI Ultra D-10, played it from 2004-2010. 2010 was when I got my current and best steel, my Jackson Blackjack Custom, which I play now. I wish I could go back to when I was the new guy, but I love being where I am in my playing now.

Interesting post. It got me to dust off all the cobwebs from those memories of long ago as a beginner. I remember looking at the new D10 Super-Pro I had bought and thinking, "Jeez, somehow I had better learn toplay this thing.". There were no teachers and you were pretty much all on your own.

Anyway, what type of steel if I had to do it all over again? Dang, I sure made a lot of money with the ol' front neck. But that C6th was so much fun, too. Oh, heck, I'd probably get a D10 push pull, black, 8x4, Goodrich pedal, NV400.

Nowadays, I still play some C6th at every gig. I know that practically every rocker tune takes me to the back neck for sure.
