Hi,

I've been a long time gone from this forum (I used to just lurk anyway

) and I recently got back into playing my steel again after a bit of (young family induced) break.

Anyway, after noticing that the old skobrien chord finder webpage no longer seems to exist I thought I'd put up a link to one I developed myself 5 or 6 years back (I wrote it before I found the skobrien site). Its a tad complicated to use but perhaps some people starting out or who are having trouble finding an unusual chord will find it helpful.

Hopefully not all you forumites try it at the same time, otherwise my computer will probably explode

Oh, sorry Russell. Is it not working at all? Even if you do something simple like choose a different chord from the dropdown box and click "Draw fretboard"?

What browser do you use (this has not been extensively tested

).

Mine works good in pastel colours.
I use Google Chrome.

I checked the dimished chords first after the recent thread about Dim chords.

Yeah, up to 12 strings it can do: After you click the "view/edit tuning" link use the "Add string" link below the copedant chart.

That's very cool.

I don't see 6th chords in the "Select a Chord" list. Just an oversight?

Yeah, I think I got bored adding in the different chords before I got up to adding any 6ths! You can make up any chord you want, though, using the little boxes below the drop down list.

Just registered, put in a 12 string universal tuning, added pedal, knee changes, etc. Added a Minor 6 chord, named the tuning, chord, etc. It all works nicely. I'm going to have to tweak it, but for a start this is really cool.

BTW I updated it to allow for up to 14 strings (how many guitars have more than this?).

Experimenting with it again - printed a sheet containing no pedals major chords and major scale. They result in nice charts that are right up my alley, showing the notes as values; works nicely for locating the scale pockets.

I've been searching for precisely this type of thing. The "Modes" portion is EXACTLY what I've been looking for and what 6-stringers refer to as "pockets"." As a relatively new PSG player and coming from a 6 string background this is invaluable and a HUGE help.
