Another pickup question

Post by Mike Spaeth »

This might be a stupid question, or it may have been discussed before but its got me wondering. Do any of you who like to change pickups ever use some sort of quick disconnect so you don't have to resolder all the time? If so, what is the best to use? If it's not a good idea, I'd like to hear that too.

Sierra guitars and new MSA Millennium guitars have that feature. I wish all brands had it.

I know about the side in pickup. I was wondering about using a standard pickup like a Wallace, George L, Etc. and splice in between it and the 1/4" jack with some sort of plug in type connector. Wouldn't this work?

Any connector would have to be tiny enough to slide thru a hole in the guitar, under the pickup.
What would be the point? It wouldn't save a significant amount of time in changing a pickup.
