Buh-yoo-tee-ful...
Hey Kevin:
According to the info I've been gathering, serial number 0632 is more likely to be from 1973 or so than a 1971. My S-11 (which looks pretty close to yours in details) is serial number 0252 and clocks in around 1970-1 based on the EIA codes on the original volume and tone pots.
My sense is that ZB guitars produced anywhere from between 75-150 guitars a year (don't quote me!), which puts yours right in there at '73.
The pedals and trim on your guitar are right in line with this, the white pickups (with the three rows of magnets) and white boards are what I question - they look like older pickups and I haven't seen many post-1970s ZB guitars with white decoration - my '66 D-10 has 'em, too.
Congrats, in any case - it's a beautiful pedal steel guitar!
ZBest,
larry

Larry, thanks for the info. I'm still trying to figure out where all the ZB guitars went. It took me six months to find this one. It was in moderate condition when I got it. Most any I find now are trashed big time. Gashes, cigarette burns out of regulation, etc. They are getting harder and harder to find. This one has incredible tone through my Webb 614-E. Its a shame whats happening to these older guitars. I'm sorry but the newer guitars just don't have the awesome tone that the older ones have. |

Its like playing on a lunch counter. One of my friends with a light weight guitar came over and played it. The first thing he said was "I can't believe how solid and stable it is". Guaranteed to not dance across the floor when you throw a knee lever. |
