At 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 18th, 2013.........
a steel guitar workshop and 'historical' review will be open to the public at Portland, Oregons', Crystal
Ballroom....sponsored and produced by McMennamins' a prominent restaurant company.
A locally revered steel guitarist that has witnessed the growth and expansion of country music in the greater Portland area will be the featured artist.
He has seen the music scene develop from the early days of black & white radio, through the expansion of local television.
The artist has been a featured musician on more than 28 northwest radio stations with a multi-year stint on Radio KXL and some six TV Stations and a similar series on 3-state local television. He's backed numerous Nashville stars touring the USA including Carl Smith, The Hager Twins, Tommy Cash, T.Texas Tyler, Tex Williams, Rusty Draper, Spade Cooley, Ferlin Husky and countless others.
It's a show you surely won't to miss. |

Radio hasn't been the same since it went color. Call me old fashion but nothing beats the old black and white radio shows. Like Amos and Andy!
But this new 3D radio is too much even for me. |

|
|
Bill...... the event is being held at The CRYSTAL BALLROOM......a long time famous musical outlet in the Portland area where many big name artists (like Larry Behm) have performed.
The location is 1332 West Burnside, Portland, Oregon.
I'm surprised Larry didn't include the precise location in his blurb. |

Ray,
I realize that. The link I included is the music schedule for the Crystal Ballroom. The event isn't currently listed. You might want to let them know to added it to their web listing if you are starting to promote it. |

The Crystal is really good at advertising the music for young people program but special events rarely make their web page. Everybody's out back smoking.... |

The Bagdad Theater Show had little publicity but they deemed it a mighty success!
They made it a three part YOU TUBE Show..........
Thanks for your comments, one and all. |

Just got a phone call firming up the remuneration for my appearance.
The Show's Host informed and assured me that NO ONE named Larry Behm or ICBM is on my segment of the program. He stated further that unless this unknown person is in one of the bands that might also be playing he's definitely NOT on the PROGRAM.
So has the SGF been mislead? I must ask you..... |

I just got another better offer for a big paying job, so I will have to cancel my appearance. Sorry maybe next time. Maybe a better qualified play could be found to take my place.

It's so good that the brotherhood of steel guitarists here in the Pacific Northwest are able to grab superior money offers to play their instruments.
Truck stops, small hole in the hall taverns/clubs, and fraternal lodges in this area have been routinely paying $40.00 to $60.00 for a four or five hour session for the last dozen plus years.
I recently received compensation in the amount of $200.00 for a 45 minute wedding reception. Last year I rec'd $200 cash plus a $170.00 Gift package for a one hour session in a local theater. My current offer is somewhere in that same naborhood.
Not bad wages.
Happy for Larry having found the golden nugget where ever he's now gonna be pickin'. The cream seems always to rise to the top, eh?
To anyone reading this thread and others, one should be able to clearly see that Mr. Behm has some sort of personal vendetta toward me. I know not why but actually couldn't care less. One has to consider the source.
Back on June 3rd, Mr. Behm clarified his reason for posting a vague "the secret is out" hook. This is the same thing I had been doing as a result of my lengthy journalism background in writing headlines...
however my actions received the scorn of Mr. Behm and several of his 'brotherhood of steel guitar participants".
Mr. Behm asserted that I hadn't read "the content of the posting" and had I done so, in essence I might not have been so confused and thus would not have felt it necessary "to add my 1 cent worth of crap to yet another posting, only meant to hurt others." In closing, he went on to say "I just wish you would go away and leave us alone, you would be a happier person, I know we all would be."
The Steel Guitar Forum has it before their eyes.
Seeing is believing, I've always been told. |

Wow,
Of all my years in the marketing industry and can honestly say that is the worse promotion for an event I've ever read.
I think the idea of a promotion is entice people to pay to hear you, not make them want to run the other way.
You guys are nuts. |

Ray, it's almost impossible to understand why you continue to constantly post such things in a public forum. Please take a deep breath and for once please think before you continue!! |

The case was you Ray being a knotthead. You live in 1952, always putting down pedal steel and the new and creative things people are trying to do with it. Lap steel has a place but so does pedal steel. I have always asked you to come to the steel jams and play but for years you did not.
For some strange reason you always want to separate yourself and the lap from other pedal steel players, you are a pedal steel player also, so why the division.
Since one of our first jams at the Gateway Elks you have stood back looking down your nose and putting down all that we are trying to build up. Not one steeler in this area knows why and I do not think you really do either.
If someone else was the "go to guy" in this area for the jams etc would you rush down there and participate and be more supportive? If so, for the good of all I will step aside. But my heart tells me that still would not happen, as you are stuck in the mud, wanting steelers on one side of the room and lappers on the other. This is not a competition, it is not, look at us lappers, we are in this thing together, with or without you.
Get some rest, and chill, this whole thing started with you and everyone knows it including you.

This kind of bickering is really out of line. I don't care "who started it", it's not right to be calling people names on this forum.
I'm closing the topic. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |
