Ouestion about Super Pro noise
Help Somebody! I have a 1978 Sho-Bud Super Pro. It's all original. This guitar seems to have more "body noise" than I'm use to. If you rub the pick up, it comes through the amp. If you bump the legs with your shoe, it sounds like a bass drum. The Knee lever action is amplified. Why is that and can I do anything about it. Bobbe Seymour and Ricky Davis---I'm sure you know the answer. If there is a solution, tell me about it please. Looking forward to any an all replies. Thanks------Eddie

Eddie most likely the pickup has become overly microphonic...meaning some loose coils/wire; which is inharent from a single coil pickup....especially the ShoBud pickup from that superpro era.
Either send the pickup to Jerry Wallace and he will re-wind it with new wire....or replace with (my preference) a Bill Lawrence 710 narrow mount.
Hope that helps ya.

Thanks Ricky: Bobbe S. told me a few weeks ago that the original pickups had a history of going bad. Even if the sound was OK it still amy not be 100%. I've been thinking about changing them but just have'nt done it. Now I have a question about the BL 710. Will this have the gutsy, mellow tone or will it be brighter? I like guttsy the best. (I spelled gutsy two different ways. Surely one is right.) Thanks again.---------Eddie

Eddie you'll want the 910's than...for the "not so bright"(or what I like to call> "cutting the true clear sound of the guitar")...ah...ha.
Make sure you get a Narrow mount pal...as that is what you specify when ordering.
Don't worry about the spelling my friend....we're all brothers(&sisters) here.
