Remington D-8. Had it refinished in sunburst by a fellow that did a lot of refinishing for Marrs years ago.

Love that Gibson double 7!
Is the body solid, and the whole thing weighs a ton? or is it more like a cabinet? Could we see more pictures?
I also like that burst on the Remington a LOT, too! and the Epiphone, and...
I'm really enjoying this eye candy thread. Thank you everyone.

The body is solid. You'll notice that it's much narrower than other Grande Consoles. It has that odd control panel in the middle. Huge MOP block markers. Black finish. Two legs! They're long, and have aluminum feet. Obviously meant to be played standing up. The pickups look like Christian's, but they're not. Much more like P-90s, with adjustable polepieces. These pups were designed and made in '38, although the 6-string models, though made in '38, weren't sold until '39. See the May issue of Vintage Guitar, about ES-12s, for more info.

Here's my custom D8 built by me and completed April 2013. Three months of gigs with perfect performance (the steel, not always me!). It has exceeded all of my expectations and is a joy to play! People want to talk about it at every show. I front a western swing band called SPEEDING WEST in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Thanks Daniel! It really does sound as good as it looks. We have a couple of demos recorded a couple of weeks ago on my website at rockneriddlebarger.com (use the link below) and go to the "SONGS" page. I'd also like everyone to use the Speeding West facebook link and give us a "Like"!

Only one neck has pedals, so I think at least half of it qualifies as non-pedal. :)

John, you have probably heard this before but this guitar is just like the instrument in the original patent drawings for the Console Grande. See A. R. Duchossior's book "Gibson Electric Steel Guitars" page 42. This may be a prototype.

Rockne,
No one has mentioned this possibility before! I don't have that book. Can someone scan it, and post the pic here? I'd love to see it!@

These images were taken from A. R. Duchossoir's wonderful book "Gibson Electric Steel Guitars" page 42. Compare the images with John Billings Gibson.

I'm sitting here stunned! Sure looks like my guitar! There are holes in my guitar for the missing neck mutes too.
Thanks Rockne!

I need a 7-string bridge to restore this guitar. Anybody?

I have no idea how many proto's might have been constructed, or if there are any records. Gibson changed the design to the more familiar type for production. It is a possability that yours is the only surviving example! See if you can contact Mr. Duchossoir somehow...he probably knows as much about this as anyone. His book was publiched thru Hal-Leonard Publishing. Good luck!

Couple of pictures of my JET 12 string non-pedal. I love this steel. My good friend and luthier Jim Trantham helped me put together this steel. Jim found a great piece of Maple wood in Montana and I had and amassed the parts and we put them all together to produce this non-pedal steel guitar. It plays and sounds great with tone and resonunce to spare.

I am really enjoying these lap and non pedal Steels. Makes me want to hurry up and finish up the restoration of My fathers 4 neck Wright. I hope to show it very soon. :)

How do you tune your 12 Robbie?

Jay
My tuning from high to low is as follows:
D B G E C A G E C A F C
Nothing fancy or elaborate but I seem to be able to get what I want out of this setup. I think it is fairly close to what Reece uses.
Thanks for asking.

Very, very, very nice Jay! I'm partial to the Gibson, of course.
