1968 Fender Jaguar and 1966 Gibson Dove

Post by Rodney Leach »

I have a 1968 Fender Jaquar with case for sale. I purchased this at an estate auction. The guitar does need to be refinished and cleaned up as it was not played for many years. Everything is original from what I can tell. The finish was removed by previous owner . I am asking 895.00 as is plus shipping. These sell from 2500 to 4000.00 when restored. If someone wants a good project guitar this is it. Email if interested and I will send photo's.

I also have a 1966 Gibson Dove with case for sale . All original except for bridge. It is in great shape except for normal pick guard issues and some finish checking.
Blue book price from Gibson is $5500.00 and I am asking $2500.00 Will send pictures upon request.

Thanks,
Rod

FYI, I heard from Rodney yesterday and he's simply been swamped with work & family obligations this past week. I believe both guitars are still available (though I'm also hoping I was first to contact him ;-) ).

Ron,
That's an Ibanez model number on the truss rod cover, and I would imagine it has Ibanez on the peghead too. It was Ibanez' copy of the Epiphone Al Caiola model, hence the missing F holes even though it's a hollowbody and the bunch of extra switches. Kind of funny as the Caiola was never much of a seller. Guitar was made around 1971 as they appeared in their catalogs at that time.

Rodney,

This is Stephen, I believe we met at the Estate sale where I found my Console Grande Gibson. I am local and could pay cash for the Jaguar today. I will email you.

Thanks.

Posted price on the Jag is $895 but I also see "Now let the auction begin". Seller has been incommunicado since last posting however so some confusion (more than my usual ;^) has set in here...

Mistake on Jaguar Post

Post by Rodney Leach »

Just wanted to inform everyone that I made a mistake on the year that the Fender was made. I was told it was a 1968 but when I checked the serial number I discovered it was a 1962. This makes the guitar more collectable and worth a little more money than I thought. My last post that said let the auction begin was due to having so many people wanting the guitar. I have tried to answer all that were interested and due to my work schedule and some family health problems I may have missed someone. If so I apologize for the delay. I do have a buyer for the guitar if I decide to let it go. I have considered keeping it myself and having it restored because I doubt I will ever find another 62 Fender at the price I paid for it.
Either way the guitar is spoken for and I thank all that were interested.
