One should not endeavor to assign a position of the steel guitar implement commonly known as the "bar", with such exactitude (birds eye) as to dismiss the unique harmonic and frequency attributes of the ubiquitous E9 tempered tuning (putting the tail before the fish). An alternative and practical approach would be to use one's aural faculties to achieve the desired pitch.
