Great video and playing Alex. I am curious why you are using Vimeo instead of YouTube.

Got my tabs yesterday. Thanks Alex! I think the tabs are dead on and easy to read. Great job! Let me know when you tab out another.

I wanted to provide quality transcriptions, which are pretty much non-existent for pedal steel, often for free, sometimes for a little $, but I guess this is frowned upon, so please close this thread.

Frank, are you sure any copyright laws are being violated? For a steel part? Specifically, what statutes apply? What court has jurisdiction? What is the dollar amount of the damages?

Interesting post, James...might be worth leaving this thread open to get people's thoughts.
It's a rainy day here in the White Mountains and this thread got me to thinking...
Alex has put a lot of time into figuring out certain steel players' rides note for note and then asked for a few dollars in exchange for the finished product to help compensate for his time and effort. I find it a little disappointing that some people's comments have discouraged him from providing a useful product for Forum members. I can see if the steel player who cut the original recording offers a tab book for sale of his/her rides and Alex is in direct competition but there certainly are some gray areas here that might be worth discussing. Also, as long as the "transcriber" isn't offering for sale the original recording are there any copyright problems here.
I have no answers but thought I'd throw out a few potential copyright issues just to stir the pot:
(1) a guitar teacher at a music store offers lessons for money to teach students note-for-note leads of some Brad Paisley tunes. problem?
(2) a bar cover band makes a living playing note for note versions of classic tunes...copyright violation?
(3) a fine woodworker takes the time to disassemble a classic piece of furniture and then offers plans for an exact reproduction (that is clearly labeled as a reproduction). legal?
(4) a drummer offers a class in how to play the exact shuffle beat on a Ray Price recording...is this an infringement on the original drummer's property? where do we draw the line on specific instruments or performances? how about a straight 4/4 unimaginative bassline...could that be tabbed out by a fan and sold or is it the original bass players' property?
OK guys, have at it. My own personal feeling is that I hope Alex can keep on doing what he's doing - he's a decent guy with a lot to share with the community.
