Is there a place to take basic computer classes for troubleshooting...the kind like you would get if you took your computer into a computer shop or best buy geek squad? Those techs are 'certified', but certified how?
A lot of that is for excess slowness, virus stuff, etc. But as a novice, I really don't know how to do stuff in the registry, reloading OS, what files NOT to delete, etc. Just thought I'd save myself the $79-$99 diagnostic fee if possible, for more routine, basic fixes. Plus I'd probably enjoy learning how to do more advanced things with the PC.
I've found these classes aren't offered at colleges...those are geared for computer majors and programmers.

Geek squad folks are "certified" by an internal BB program and nothing recognized.. Basic PC training class is called A+ certification. You can find plenty of books at a store or things online to help you out if you wish to learn the basics.
FYI, some of the stuff is "out of date" but the test still asks you about it hence why things like IRQs are still discussed.
Meh.. YMMV...
