Help on a Mullen

In 1991 I purchased a Mullen D10 with 8&6. I have pretty well left all guitars alone and have not messed much with the pulls. However, my guitar raises the first string, the F# a half tone and I am wanting it to pull a whole tone. I moved the rod through a different hole in the changer and a different hole in the bellcrank. I was looking at the way the first and third pedal raised a whole tone. I can get the pull a whole tone but when I release the lever the string is out of tune. I do not know what to do to correct the problem so any advice would be greatly appreciated....Paul King

paul turn the guitar upside down or get under neith it and watch what it's doing at the changer end when you release the lever the rod mabe on to much of a angle and binds ...if you have to push the finger back with your hand and then it goes back in tune then there's a bind some where...do it slow and and take note....it also could be on the bell crank side ...if the finger is going all the way back on it's own...disconnect the rod and pull on the lever and see if the cross shaft binds ...if so loosen off the retainer bushing a little...i hope this helps you

Could also be the return spring. The spring should be just tight enough so that the maximum raise can pull without the lower finger kicking in. Since you are increasing the raise from a half to a whole tone, this may be the problem. Also be sure there's enough throw and just a teeny bit of slack in the pull.
