Which Emmons' are people referring to when they use the term 'Emmons Original'? Is it the older p/p's only, or all p/p's? Are the newer Emmons all-pulls not considered as 'Emmons Originals' even though they were made by Ron Lashley Jr. at the Emmons Guitar Co.? If so, why not? Thanks in advance.

Mitch

P.s. One more question: What is a "Black Rock" Emmons?

An Emmons Original is any Emmons with the push-pull changer. Can't answer any of the rest.

When Emmons switched over to all-pull in the 1980s they started referring to the push/pulls as "Originals". That term covered to ALL push/pulls. Some players who were around back then (like me) still use the term "Emmons Original".

The Black Rock was basically a cross between a student model and a pro model.

Thank you both very much. Doug, what does the decal say on the keyhead end of the steel in the photo you posted? I can't make it out. Is the Black Rock, as well as other single 10 p/p's, considered to sound as good as the D10 P/P/'s? Thank you.

Yes, that's a Jagwire Strings sticker. I never played a Black Rock, but it appears to have the same undercarriage as a S-10 pro model, same changer, just two knee levers though. The top is quite a bit different, no raised metal neck, two control knobs, plastic control plate, wood pedal board, etc.
