AJ's playing is unique, and I think, in years to come, the 8 string Gold Tone will become a classic. My Tonemaster is not nearly as well made.

Hi David
I have a Ohau Diana which is the same basic guitar as the Tonemaster, I think. Those old pickups are powerfull and sound so good. The Goldtone is a copy of the Ohau.

AJ play's around the Atlanta area and I hope to see him soon.

Steel Demo

Post by JW Adams »

would not be useful unless your wanting to play that type of music, a lap steel demo should be straight forward no effects at all, i ran into this problem when first looking at the lap steel, you can take a two by four with pickup and strings with effects and make it sound good, you need to demo the sound of the steel not the effects

Actually I like to hear a lap steel played both straight (no effects) and with effects. Sometimes a pickup sounds not so great by itself, but much better with effects.

Of course, then you get into the discussion of what effects are most appropriate.

In any case, I would agree that a plain recording of the guitar makes more sense.

AJ is a Sacred Steeler, so what he's doing makes sense for him. - Jack

I like the steel playing on the Emmons website. It certainly casts their guitars in a good light.

Oops!! This is Steel Without Pedals.
