Judson, The stainless are brighter, some would say more treble, others might use different terms. Stainless and nickle only applies to the wound ones, all plain strings are the same, the difference in the standard and Nashville is gauges, shown below. Hope this helps.

E9 standard .012p.015p.011p.014p 18p.022p.026w.030w.034w.038w

E9 Nashville .013p.015p.011p.014p.
017p.020p.026w.030w.034w.036w

That helps with the metals.

With Nashville versus Standard, I could see that they are different gauge my question is why?

Are some guitars set up so they require different gauges? If so how would I know which my guitar needs?

Or is it just a preference? If that is the case why do some people like that better? Do they get a certain sound out of it?

I have only been playing about six months and I just don't know a whole lot about stuff like this.

I just need a mailing address to send a money order to for a set of the E9th Nashville, nickel wound. I prefer a 11.5 instead of a .011 on the third. I'm presenting testing different brands on a ETS S-10. Send a PM and I'll get a MO on the way. Thanks.

Live Steel Strings follow up.

Hi Ray
Have played the heck out of them since I got them a while back and finally broke the 5th. They sound and feel great and the tone durability is fine. Simply put, I really like 'em! Jack

I just got my first set from Live Steel. Before I bought them, I talked to Jim Lindsey a fellow forum member. Jim told me the brightness is only temporary. Once they settle in, the tone is AWESOME! Can't wait to put them on my EMCI.
