Welcome aboard Stump.
I started in January using Jeff Newman's video courses. He explains everything so well and plays so beautifully and I say, "Man, I can do that!". But I can't! Either I pluck a wrong string or press the wrong pedal or lever, or forget to move the bar while I thinking about the pedals and the strings. And it seems the longer I practice the more mistakes I make. But 2 days ago, after reading Ray Montee's "DO YOU VISUALIZE?" string, (March 3) I sat down for the 1st time of the day and tried to picture playing "Faded Love" in my head before I started. Even though I know it by heart, my brain felt like it was bursting just going thru the first few pages of TAB that way.
But I played it, even if slowly and probably lacking great tone, without a mistake. So hang in there. We shall overcome!

like DD says, just do what you like and it "might" work
otherwise get a teacher or get close to other steelers and see just how they manage to get to the point and remain Humble ?
we must all be pretty unique in this Klub afterall ?
Stick to this Forum David,
it will alleviate ya' tons of grief
All the Best to ya' upon your Journey

Hello Mr. Schmitt,
I guess if have to live in France, the Pyrenees is one of the best places to be. I lived in Germany from 1972 until mid 1994 and always enjoyed visiting the Massat valley, some of God's prettiest work (next to Texas that is).
I appreciate your response and advice, if I live long enough, I hope to learn one song from start to finish on this 10 stringed beast. And I aim to do it.

Yep David R, it is darn purdy in that area.
I am looking forward to going over there this spring. I ended up a few hours east, but not so far it's a problem... well except as a commute. But scuba is a bit hard over there, easier near Marsailles or the Camargue. But those Pyrenees views are supurb. Come on down and visit a spell!

Mr. Donald,
Unfortunately, I am no longer living in Europe. It was a great experience, but I am glad to be back in the States. I was gone from the U.S. just too long. I have probably been within spittin' distance of where you reside though. In times past I would drive down to Barcelona on the A-7 and I am almost certain that is pretty close to the area you live in... right? Well probably reasonably close.
Oh well, those days are gone..... ah.. but the memories.
