Wondering if Mike Johnson is still with Daryle Singletary. I'm going to see DS tonight at Chilly Willy's in Magnolia, MS.

I think he just recorded with him. I don't know if Mike was ever in his road band. If he was, it was some time ago and I doubt he would be with him.

Thanks for the quick reply, Richard. Any idea if he has a touring steel player, and who it would be? May be a good question for Brett Day.

There have been several threads over the past few months on this. It seems to be hit or miss whether he has a steel player.

The latest says That Vic Lawson is sometimes with him.

But I have to say, if Mike was with Daryle, I would travel to the ends of the earth to catch that show.

Yes, I saw a few, including that one, but none answered the Q definitively. I understand Danny Muhammad is no longer with him. That one makes me think he may have no steel player at all tonight.

I think Vic was in the band after Danny. Unless it is a big time show, he probably is without one.

I'll never hear Daryle Singletary, and not think of his great break on that song.

Richard is correct, I have pretty much only recorded with Daryle over the years. HOWEVER, Daryle played with our 45RPM BAND last Tuesday night for our first appearance at THE STATION INN. He is going to sing with us again APRIL 30th. We should be playing at THE STATION INN once a month (3rd Tuesday) from now on and I have about got him talked into singing with us on a regular basis.

45RPM is a band we put together to play and pay tribute to the great country records of the 60s and 70s. We also take some of the old songs and put our own arrangements to them. It's a 9 piece band of great players that love traditional country music. Along with Daryle, Joanie sings some, my brother Mark sings some and we do some instrumentals. A great songwriter and singer, Jimmy Melton sings and fronts the band. Also in the band, is the great Gregg Galbraith and from The Family Reunion Band, Dirk Johnson on piano. If you guys are in town, please come see us. You can check my website for scheduling.

I would love to head back there when I could take them in as well as that Franklin fellow Very Happy who plays with the Time Jumpers.

I was in Nashville this past week for a little getaway. I had the pleasure of catching The Time Jumpers on Monday and 45 RPM on Tuesday.

As has been well documented on this forum, The Time Jumpers were amazing.

To the point of this thread, 45 RPM was great as well. I knew that it was going to be great before the first downbeat because 1) Mike Johnson was playing, and 2) there were 5 Nashville steel players (that I counted) in the room to listen.

Great stuff. Good times. Go see 'em.

Wow - another must attend venue next time I go to Nashville. No atmosphere better than the Station Inn.
No finer country singer than Mr Singletary at this moment in time either. Very Happy

There aren't many country singers I'd travel to see but Daryle is the exception - with or without a steel player. He's a great singer!

Daryle was great. Excellent singer. No steel player, though. Six-string picker was killer, however. Still a very good show.

@ MJ..thanks for the heads-up about 45RPM..we have been over to Douglas Corner a couple of times, this is a really fun band to see and hear...Daryl singing with the band , how kool is that ! I find myself working in town ( non music) fairly often so 3rd Tuesdays at the S Inn sounds like a plan !
