My Own ShoBud Professional>All Done!!!

WEll I bought one for myself to redo and bring back to life. It is a beautiful two-tone Professional with "Wine colored" aprons and necks> Once I recovered the Finish..ah..ha.
Those are Bill Lawrence 705's in there and 8 pedals 4 knee levers...and she is a dream in every way..

Again; the changer fingers worked alright when I got it...but that old grease in there makes for less mobility that you would'nt notice unless you take the changer fingers out and clean and polish..>is what I did....and the action is as smooth as any steel I've played.

I basically took this whole ShoBud apart and cleaned and polished every piece of metal...and my 4 part waxing/polishing brings out the beautiful Birdseye Maple body and necks.
This is a 33 year old ShoBud...brought back to life and I plan on continuing the History by playing this ShoBud everychance I get...yeeee haaa...enjoy the eye-candy.

Hey Ricky, congrats, she looks absolutely gorgeous. I too feel that you should have a beautiful ShoBud for yourself. I hope I´ll be able to find one of those, too; I practically have the money together by now but it´s kinda difficult from over here, you know.

Ricky, That's a beautiful steel.I have one just like it all apart, but yours has nicer wood grain than mine. Maybe one day I'll get it back together. I have a soft spot for old Sho-Buds.

Real nice. I'll trade two cajun queens, a one eyed mule name boudeaux, a pirogue with two or three (I can't remember to good) shotgun blast holes in the bottom, a 45lb sack of boiled crawfish(with the boiled Corn & taters),1/2 jug of 190 proof swamp juice left. over after New Years Day( good thing we give up drinking day after Christmas 'cept for the sickness and other fevers,and last but not least the 5 lbs of boudin Paw Paw Piere could'nt eat cause of his hy-suspension(high blood pressure).If thats not enough stuff call on that new email thing and we'll hassell( you know haggle):

) Give it up bro, what IS your 4 part waxing-polishing technique? Here's another one fer ya: Is it sacriligous to re-laquer an old Bud if the finish is down to raw wood? (like between the 2 necks on mine?)

Jay...it came from a Pawn shop with those pickups on it...and I'll take those (hard to find 705's) over the originals anyday...cause I cannot record with originals in.....toooo noisey.

Rick S. I don't believe its bad to refinish if there is NO finish left....but basically I don't believe in re-finishing...mainly cause if you strip the old finish off..you loose some of the original color stain...and I don't want that...>so I bring out the old finish by this process here>

Get soapy water....and wipe clean the guitar...
Than Dry very well with soft cloth.
Now get a polishing wax....and wipe on .....and let set up and dry....than wipe off with clean soft cloth.
Than get a polishing oil(like "old english" furniture polishing oil) and it will condition the finish and wax that is now in the finish...cause the wax will bring out the finish....and the polishing oil will condition it.....so wipe it on ...and let sit for a hour....than wipe with clean rag.
Now the finish/wood should feel pretty dang good...almost kinda silky wet...even though it's not.
Now get some good guitar polish and wipe on and let dry and wipe off.....then last thing is a good furniture polish like Pledge....and wipe on and wipe off.......and you now have a beautiful glossy look to the finish that was there.....but hibernating.

Nice system Ricky, sure does work. Do you have a recomendation for the step 3 polishing wax? I doubt I can find it here, but I suppose there is an equivelant here.

Never heard my e-mail thing ring.Maybe I offered to much stuff. Really thanks for the tip on the refinish process. Never thought about trying it that way. Bought a Professional in fair cosmetic condition.Sent it to Marrs Music to have three more knee levers added & a new case made.Will try this process when I get her back home.

David; I use Ernie Ball guitar polish...as that is one of my endorsments....but any Music store you have there; will have some Guitar polish.
Bill; haaaa...good one..but I try not to take pictures with Strings on...as they don't show the fret board with clearity..ah..ha.
Daniel....yes you offered too much..ha...and I can't use any of that at my house...ha..

You had generic " polishing Wax" in the list.
Soap, Earnie, Old english, Ernie, Pledge

It's the same stuff you wax wood with.
Ummm> Wood Polishing wax....and any furniture store will have it.
So the sequence is> Soap;Polishing wax;old english moisturizing oil;guitar polish;pledge...
