Well, after looking around a bit, and taking into account all the advice I received (although not necessarily following it!) I've decided to buy a Linkon II S-12 5+4 (pending finding out a few last details, such as detuning problems or what have you).

If anybody has any comment about this specific model of guitar, good or bad, that would also be appreciated.

I can only speak from recent experience. I recently bought a Linkon D-10 with 8 & 4. It is the older single raise-single lower. I have put it thru the paces the past couple of weeks. "NO" detuning problems! The best info I can gather is it was built in the 70's(early). You can reach Wayne Link, the builder at: 204-895-0115. A nice gentleman, who answered a lot of my questions. I think they are one fine guitar!

I have played a S10-Link II, 4x4, for years, and it is a workhorse. Never had problems with detuning. The best buck I spent.

Neither of your guitars have ANY cabinet drop?
