Many thanks to each of you for your earlier suggestions/comments regarding my new Dell XPS 8500, with Win-8.
This has been a real test for this olde guy but I'm happy to report progress has been made.
Today, using Audacity for the first time, I managed to record an olde 78 rpm record with success. I next made a good transfer of the wav file to an MP-3. It's in the library and plays back accurately on the 'puter.
But, here's my problem. I cannot for the life of me transfer this MP-3 to an EMAIL. Each time I do, the email page disappears and I cannot copy/paste as I've always been able to do on earlier computers.
Any suggestions?
Progress has been made.........but

Use the buttons in your email client to attach the file. There should be one labeled "Attachment," or such.
