I've been adjusting my playing position/seat height etc, and come to the conclusion as to why I'm having trouble fitting my legs under my current steel (MSA Classic). The previous owner had 'chopped' an inch or so from the legs/pedal rods. So to get in good playing position, I find the tops of my legs hitting the reversing arm for RKR. The only catch is, I'm only 5'7", however due to spinal curvature, I have the legs of someone a few inches taller. So to get my seat up enough/steel low enough to have good arm posture, i'm either too far from the steel, or using the volume pedal etc is rough going.
ANyway, long disclosure for s short question. On a D10/SD10, I'm sure there is no 'standard' distance from the bottom edge of the cabinet to the tops of the strings, and none of the mfr's have specs like this online etc. I'm curious as to what this distance is on various brands, so as to help in making a decision on what may be a choice. So if any/ya'll could take a few measurements and post for me, i't would be greatly appreciated. I'm curious as to any and/all brands, however Emmons (push-pull and or legrande), ShoBud, Zum, GFI, and Carter would be my first choices (in no particular order as not to offend anyone), but hearing this on other brands such as Excel, Mullen or anything else would be also taken into consideration.
Thanks in advance

Hey Gino. If I'm reading your question correctly----I placed a straight edge across the strings and dropped down a ruler to the bottom of the rear apron.
Emmons P/P 12 string, double body: A bit over 4" from strings to bottom of apron.
Carter 12 string, double body: 3 1/4".
Both guitars have cut-out aprons.
Hope this helps.

pretty much so. The MSA does have a cut out apron on the back as well, but the dang reversing 'toggle' for the RKR makes it pretty much flush with the front edge.
It appears w/ the guitars you have I could go a bit shorter (or should I say, std. height seat). Thanks, though, your info was quite helpful... i"M just curious to see now as to what other guitars measure in at!
.. also the height from the bottom of the front apron as well from the strings would be curious... want to see how 'thick' the different brands are)

Hi,
My seat hight is 21 1/2", which is the also the height of the top of my kneecaps. I always adjust any seat to that. The height of my Remington U12 is as follows: Floor to strings: 30". Floor to bottom of cut out apron:25 1/2".
The guitar used to be one inch taller, but i cut it shorter.
Hope this helps.
