Who was the steel player with Rodney Crowell and Emylou the other night on Letterman?

Not really sure, but a good guess is Dan Dugmore. Looked like a Sho-Bud. Too bad he didn't get the solo! But lovely fills.

If he's an LA cat, I don't recognize him.

Thanks for posting this Tom. I was looking for it since it's mentioned in the Robert Randolph on Leno thread. It's Larry Campbell.

I didn't recognize him either John. Definitely a Sho Bud. Letterman's out of NYC so I don't know. Hank DeVito wrote the tune according to http://www.allmusic.com/album/old-yellow-moon-mw0002469467

Allen Reynolds wrote it, Waylon Jennings made it famous. There's a great version by Marianne Faithful too.

Thanks Joachim. I read the article wrong. Writers deserve credit for their work and I wish more artists would cite them.

You're welcome Tom, I wonder if it's the same songwriter that wrote "Jesus is just allright" by the Byrds and the Doobies.

I Don't know if they are one and the same. Here's a link to Waylon's Version. Glad you posted this because now I remember him doing it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqtJhSH5zWA

arthur reid reynolds wrote 'jesus is...'

i wish rodney would have done one of his own songs and i wish old emmy wasn't losing her spark.
and i wish i were a billionaire.
pleasant music, though.
