How many are using an E on the 10th string E9th
I picked this up from Dan Tyack, I put the B note on the 9th string and a .052 tuned to E on the 10th. I do not miss the D at all as I put a RKR change on the B to D when I need it.

I coul'dn't miss the D at all, I use it a lot as a rootstring for 7-9 chords, and in combination with the Franklin-4th , you have the 5th (A) on bottom of that. Besides that, if you also would raise your D to D# together with G#-B, it will open a new world with chord-progressions for you. But, the way Dan Tyack uses it, it makes lot of sence! I couldn't even fill the tow-gap in his shoes (or better, socks

Count me in on my D-10. I lower the 8th string to get the D on the same lever that lowers the second string to D. Love that low E!

I set my S10 up that way after about a week of struggling with the "proper" D note. I just kept hitting it at all the wrong times, decided it was too risky and moved the B in its place, then added the low E. It just added the range that was missing, especially for a guitarist who was used to it.
After 20 years of the S10 set up like this, I moved to the S12U setup and the transition was fairly easy. Now I drop my middle E to D. --JR
