Pete Drake- Talking Steel Guitar

Post by Wally Moyers »

I was going through some of my Dads (Wally Moyers Sr.) stuff today and found this old Pete Drake Album and this old Talk Box.. A local radio station bought it for my Dad back in the 60s so he could do commercials with it.. Can't wait to get this thing working again..

Gee, I thought I had all of Pete's albums
but this album cover is new to me. It's
very nice. What label is it on?? Looks
like it might be Starday.

How often do you see a pedal steel player in a suit and tie? Pretty cool!

He does look pretty snazzy.

He was a gentleman (at least for a steeler!)

RIP Pete.

I have this record and a couple others of Pete's, they are a great listen. But I think it's a hell of a lot cooler that you have an actual Drake talkbox! What a find!

Aaron,
I feel the same way, a lot of history there. I remember my Dad practicing for hours learning to use the box... It's not easy to make the words understandable... I think I was 9 when he got it, 50 years ago...
