Here is a pic from last weekend Countrymusic fair in Berlin Germany. I played every show with my light SGI and she worked very well. Years ago I pimped that baby with a George L E66 pickup. Since she sounds like a "adult steel"

SGI (Steel Guitar International) are or were sold through Scotty. It`s Scotty`s brand I belive. I think the steel are built at the Excell factory in Tokyo, Japan.

I have a SGI S-10 3x4 which is an allpull and plays easy. The down side are that it is maybe too light so it will move around if you have a loaded knee lever.

I thought this one looked familiar. Slim Yamaguchi has one very similar. I found his to be very comfortable and excellent sounding.

I'd do one of these if it ever came up on the market

The action from my SGI is very easy and precise. I don't have the problem with wiggle or something like that.
I think important point: If you catch a seldom SGI. It must have a woodneck.Than there's a chance to build in a E66 George L Pickup.My SGI is always part of my equipment. Just in case if I get some problems with my ZUM D-10 I can change the instruments very quick..

No they stopped production. I'm not sure, I think in the late 90's.

Here's my SGI D-10. Great action, nice tone and the best: small and light..

I bought it from a guy in Texas, couple years ago.
Beside my main steelguitar ZUM D-10 7/8 I like to play these SGI's.
The orig.tuningkeys on the D-10 were not useable. So Wolfgang Bednarz (WBS Steelguitars) he added custom tuningheads.

Hi Larry, yes it's sad they stoped the production so early. I'm sure there are a market for very minimized steelguitars. Just the neck the pickup and the mechanic..
and the result is amazing.

A lot of great things don't sell because we as human's have a superficial mindset, if it don't look 'Fancy' and 'Decked out' with pedals and Chrome, we don't want to be sat at it...I'd love a tiny beauty like that...I just bought a Mullen Discovery, so a close call at 27Lbs out of case.

How much does that one weight Didi?

I believe that Scotty once told me that the s-10 SGI could fit in an overhead bin on a jet... He mentioned flying overseas with them and sell it at the show, then he didnt have to bring it back. The customer basically got free shipping and Scotty had a guitar for the show!

I'm just a beginner, and this has been a great instrument for me. It is amazingly compact. Also, the build quality is really something. I always say that if Q had issued James Bond a pedal steel, it would be an SGI.
