Can you add a knee lever?

I bought my son a Sho-Bud Maverick as a birthday present. He's a great guitarist and has developed a interest in pedal steel so I figured I'd get him a basic model so he could try it out. It's probably a 50s model. It has three pedals.

One thing I noticed is that it doesn't have a knee lever. I've seen other Mavericks with a knee lever. I'm not a peddler so I don't know if he even needs a knee lever at this stage of the game but he seems to think that it's important.

Is this something that can be added on to this guitar? I don't have it with me, but I would think that the bridge would have to have the connections to make a knee lever work.

If anybody knows if this can be done, where would be a good place to start in trying to find the parts to do it?

At this stage of the game he should get Jeff Newman'S AB pedal course and forget the knee levers until he masters the pedals. It would possible to add a knee lever to the Maverick; however, it would more than likely be a waste of money that could be applied to his next professional guitar when he masters what he already has.
