As much as it pains me, life dictates I part with my year old, custom built Williams D-8 console straight steel.
Bill made this guitar using the current 700 series pedal steel D-10 body with wood necks. It re purposes many of the components of his pedal steels.. including body, end plates, compact key-head with Grover tuners, pickup cavity, necks etc. The bridge is totally hand built along with the 8 peg head/nut. The string spacing is set for 3/8" at the bridge with a slight taper toward the nut. The scale length is Bill's standard 24 1/4".
The electronics include CTS pots with knurled tele knobs and a Switchcraft 3 way switch with chrome tip. Equipped with the Bill Lawrence 705 USA Reissue pickups, this guitar has a lovely smooth sweet tone that has been admired by many, including several professional players.. but has standard mounting cavity if you want to change to pickups of your choice.
The inlay work and curly maple body with honey amber lacquer finish are stunning to look at and are set off by the highly polished components, and comes with a cover to protect it when not being used, and there is not a mark on the guitar anywhere.
The legs telescope to a standing playing height, and fit in the included leg bag which velcro mounts under the guitar for transport in the included ATA hard case.
Sale price $1,800 obo.. split paypal and shipping. You are more than welcome to come check it out if you are in or visiting Minneapolis and take it home with you..
Lots of references on this forum. Thanks for looking! I can send hi res photos on request.

I've seen and played this fine-sounding, sweet-playing guitar; it's everything Hal advertises it to be.
I bought a guitar from Hal just over a year ago; he's a fair and honest guy to deal with who keeps his instruments in top condition.

Having seen and played this guitar, I would suggest to anyone who's even THINKING about buying it to move into the ACTION mode! Great guitar. Also, Hal is known to a number of us in the Minnesota steel guitar community and is the kind of guy you'd want to do business with.
Go, guys, go...!
