I am thinking about ordering one and trying it out and if I like it I am going to buy another for my 2nd NV112. Is anyone else running them in their rig? How do you like them as oppsed to the blue marlin's? |

You will love them. More midrange, more headroom. Be sure to put in the Ken Fox chips, then stand back.

How long has this speaker been available? I've not heard of a 1203-4 super until this post. I have a 1203-4 in my twin I bought about a year ago. Is this a new model? |

Can anyone advise if these speakers are a new issue as Peavey Europe say the 1203-4 Black Widows are discontinued and they only have 12 inch BW speakers in 8 ohm versions. |

I thought the 1203-4 was stock in the Nashville 112-E speaker cabinets that were popular in the mid 1990's. |

Fellows, the current 1203 Super is not the same as the older 1203's from the 90's.
I believe that only the 8 ohm version is currently in production, while possibly the Replacement basket for recent 4 ohm models may be still available. You may still be able to find some complete recent 4 ohm models from sources that haven't sold out of them though.
You may be able to order the components separately as well.
The older ones in the 112E's were a specially treated paper cone and voiced for steel guitar. If there were some models before that, I don't know.
The current ones are designed for PA apps. They are Kevlar impregnated cones.
You can look up the Thiele/Small data on Peavey's website. If you know how to decode it, it might be of some value in comparing them. I have some leads to the data if you can't find it.
I have some of the older ones, but have not played through the newer ones, so I don't know how they compare sonically.
As always I defer to Mike Brown or other Peavey expert and submit that my statements are based on my collection of info gathered from the company over the years of production. |
