Anyone tried a "stacked" system for the steel?

HERE'S MY QUESTION.... has anyone tried a stacked system with pre-amp/e.q., power amp, speaker system for the steel? Similar to what a lot of bass players are going with. If so, can you give me an idea of what I need to put one together?

I posted earlier about a pot problem with my Peavey Vegas 400. I'd like to have a nice backup amp or use the Peavey as backup to the stacked system or another good steel amp...any suggestions? I have a Peavey Delta Blues, brand new, and found out the hard way it is NOT a good steel amp and would like to sell it... paid %650.

Frank I am not sure what you mean by "Stacked" -- perhaps you mean some sort of rack system ??
There is no shortage of information on the forum regarding Rack systems for steel - so a quick search should start you off

you can split up a steel amp (like your Vegas) into separate head and speaker cab components, thus creating a stacked system. That's my main amp (with a twin reverb split into two pieces). Alternately, you could look for a Fender Dual Showman, which is essentially a twin reverb in stacked form to begin with. Even if you only find the head, you could sub some other speaker cabinet with it (and the 2x15 Dual Showman cab might be a bit much for steel in most situations anyway.

I recently picked up a Peavey bass cab with a 1502-4 which I will pair with my Session 500 head as a stack for those occasions where I want to make the bass player's life miserable (Hi Chris!).

MANY options to choose from and it's fun to design your own particular system around what and where you play. I use this one when I am to play fairly loud and am responsible for most of my own house sound instead of the PA system...the power amp is only 20 watts/ch but it really kicks!

When I have to be able to get everything from clean traditional, variations of overdrive, with a little reverb to too much delay with either a clean signal, an overdriven signal or a combination of both. In this configuration, I'm only using the VHT for it's preamp and different levels of overdrive. The power amp is a single rack space Matrix. The VHT can deliver 100 watts. The Matrix gives me 2 channels of 500 each. Did someone say, the steel guitar needs to be louder....
