The last time I heard Mike was in Tanglewood, MA,with The Seldom Scene, a little more than 10 years ago. Doc Watson and Jamie Hartford were also on the bill.
The album that Mike did with Jeff Newman is what cemented my love of steel & dobro. I like the way they put those short "nuggets" on there. I think they called them smoke #1, #2 & possibly #3. I especially love "When I Dream".
Mike was a perfect gentleman, He ironed his jeans and always had immaculate cowboy boots. A fantastic player. Salut Silver Fox.

Very sad news indeed. I had the opportunity to meet Mike at the Dallas Jamboree last year and am certainly grateful for that! My thoughts and prayers go out to Tommy and the rest of the Auldridge family during this difficult time.

What a sad, sad bit of news this morning!!! Mike and I talked quite a bit about his health (and the problems all us "old" men have) last year in Dallas. Seemed like he really wanted to talk. We bounced emails back and forth,,,congratulations on his award etc,,,,last time we emailed, couple of months ago he seemed like he was feeling better???? Now this!!! The music world has lost a REAL, TRUE GENTLEMAN,,as well as a real musician! May God bless his family,,,,there is NO doubt where Mike's beautiful soul is right now!!!

how couldn't you miss the guy?
Pretty sure he's still around if he chooses to be... I gotta figure, anyhow!

I am so sad to hear of Mike's passing. I will never forget the one and only lesson I had with Mike on the pedal steel back in July of 2011. What an incredible man. I will never forget getting lost on the beltway around Silver Springs Md on route to his home, and he stood on the front lawn and directed me to his front door. I was over an hour late, and I was ready to just call it a day, and head home, and Mike said no, we can do this, and we did. I will never forget this kind caring man. My prayers go out to Mike's family, his friends and all that had the honor of knowing and performing with him. Rest in peace my friend.
