If it's going flat after you pedal it, the nylon tuning nut may be worn out and too loose, turning on the rod as you actuate it.
Try a new tuning nut if you have one or take that one off and squash it a little bit with pliers or swap ends with it if it's drilled all the way through.
Could be a number of things, but that seems the most likely. |

I see. What's it doing? Flat, sharp, same thing every time or no pattern at all? |

Vince, I see you are new to the forum. If you are NOT a newbie player, forgive my beginner's answer. I was having problems getting a string to even tune up to the required note no matter what I did with the tuning nut. I eventually figured out it had a screw for split tuning limiting it. Doh! Split tuning means there are screws tapped into the end of the tuner just above the top of the guitar. See if you have any allen screws in the opening for that screw. This does not sound like the problem you describe, but just covering all bases.

Guys thanks for the responses. Jerry it seems like you nailed it. It seems I have missed that tuning nut. It's hard to believe it would be something so small . Jerry it would tune up to the A and after about 2 presses would start falling flat.... thanks for your help!! _________________ Williams D10 8&8 1988 maple burl
