Volume Pedal Pivot Point?

Post by Peter »

I have a Hilton Volume pedal and I am extremely happy with it for reasons discussed previously on this forum. I am using it on an S12 Universal. I find it difficult to find a comfortable angle for my right foot, and I have done all kinds of experiments with it. I tried raising the back of the pedal, lowering the back, moving the pedal more to the left or right,
sitting closer or further away from the guitar, raising or lowering my seat, etc. I always sit with the center of my body opposite the 13th fret. And I sit as far away from the guitar as possible and still be comfortable with all 5 knee levers.

The problem is that my right foot is too much at an angle. It feels my toes are pointing "up" too much. The result is that I only use the end travel (full volume) of the pedal. If I keep the volume pedal at a low level (toes up) for a long time, I get a cramp in my leg. I found that if I shift my foot forward about 4 inches, my foot is OK, but then the pivot point is behind my heel.

Is there a way to move the pivot point of the volume pedal forward? Could I, for instance, shorten the front of the pedal and move it closer to the pedal board?

Maybe Keith has a suggestion?

Peter, I had the same problem. I adjusted the volumn control screw till the volumn didn't come on till the pedal was about a third of the way down. Hope this helps.

I think that your seat height is to low.
Raise your seat a couple of inches, adjust your steel height accordingly, this will alter the angle of your foot on the volume pedal, and may also benefit your 'pedal mashing' foot angle.
