From the same 1994 show, Tom and the Time-Warp Top Hands playing Blue Steel Blues, a song by Ted Daffan.
Tom's tone is pure Bigsby.

Yeah man! This one's even better than the BHD! And he smiles a little too. Love that tone! Thanks Mike.

Mike, are you going to torture us all by slowly revealing each song from this trove of analog treasure?

Russ, I've been wondering about you and what you've been up to. Give me a call some time.

That was great. I am familiar with the tune as an old standard, but Tom really breathed new life into it. Thanks for posting.

I only want to put up the instrumental tunes that feature Tom. This is pretty much it.

Amazing as always.......I know that youtube clips are not a major indicator of the real sound & tone of an instrument......but I'll say that I think Tom got his best sound on his mesquite guitar.....that steel had a deep rich tone that was a perfect marriage for his playing......

Mike, thank you for sharing this music! I love the intensity in all their playing.

And it's amazing to watch Tom take economy of motion to such a high level--including his facial expressions.

Sounds a lot like Leon McAuliffe's "Blue Guitar Stomp"
Real swingin' stuff. Surprised

I recently ran into a 1937 recording of The Light Crust Doughboys "Blue Guitars", which has the same opening line and basic structure as "Blue Steel Blues". The Doughboys had no steel player at that time. They seldom did have one.
Ted Daffan's BSB was recorded in 1940. I guess those Texas boys were sharing their tunes around back in the day.
