One of the digits in the price should be missing...
Has anyone seen an actual 8 string AudioVox? Their headstocks often incorporate 8 tuners like this one, but are 7 string guitars.

Note how it's strung, with the 7th string being a high-pitched string.

Mine came like that as well, and the nut is slotted accordingly - i.e. there's not enough room to widen the 7th string slot for a heavier-than-6th string.

I haven't been able to find anyone to help me learn that tuning, so for now the 7th slot sits empty and unused.

As for the price, well, you never know when "collectors" get involved. I paid a hefty premium for mine, bought from a serious Audiovox collector who knew what it was worth (historically). I've since seen similar guitars in much better condition go for hundreds less. Oh well. I took mine to a Guitar Center once and they offered me $50 for it. Had no idea who the maker was, just that it wasn't Gibson, Fender, or Rickenbacker, so it wasn't worth much.
