A short but sweet visit to Waikiki.......meeting up with old friends... a lot of surf, beach, ocean time and "steel" time..those who have met me will know me to be a jamming animal...
I heard more steel guitar this time than I expected to. Walking near the Kanikapila Grille heard the unmistakable dulcet tones of Jeff Au Hoy accompanying Cyril Pahinui (Jeff tells me it has been four years since we last met), meeting group "Pahana" at the HWAK, Alan Akaka at the Marriot, the sound of Casey Olsen's steel accompanying Pu'uhonua at the Hawaiian Shopping Center hula class I happened to be passing by. Gary Aiko has a very good new album with superb steel arrangements by Alan Akaka....
"Waikiki" and "He Aloha No Honolulu" in Waikiki...(Gary Aiko, Mandy, Alan Akaka and myself)
