Buddy Emmons Question re: Bellcranks

Post by Chris Lucker »

Please, solve the mystery. Are Emmons push pull bellcranks parts that were originally used in cash registers or slot machines, or were they made manufactured specifically for Emmons guitars? I have always heard the National cash register story, yet no vintage cash register parts supplier I have contacted recognizes the part.
Thank you.

I've heard the rumor before too. The company I work for programs cash registers among other things for convenience stores. We talked with some NCR folks who said it did look familiar, but we could never come up with any, or even a part number.

Chris,
I originally designed an S shaped bell crank very similar to the one we ended up using except mine had a different linkage for the push/pull rods. Ron Lashley added the round swivel on each end and designed the ends of the bell crank to accommodate them. If it was a cash register part, I wasn't aware of it.

I often wondered why my old push/pulls
kept making that "Ka-ching" sound! Image
