Steel Guitar Lessons

Post by Forrest Culpepper »

I live in the San Antonio, Texas area. I'm curious about whether any of you all are taking steel guitar lessons in this area. If so, can you tell me who you are taking lessons from? I'm thinking of giving lessons because I think there are some new steelers that would like to get some pointers & really don't know where to go & how to get started (I used to play with Moe Bandy)....

How many of you are giving lessons (that would be anywhere...not just S.A.)??

Denny Mathis. The best there is. He used to be at Del Mar Music as far as lessons are concerned. I haven't been to San Antone in many years but I hear he's still teaching. I know he's still playing. The guy's a PSG monster. Catch him playing if you can, he'll blow your socks off.

I took quite a few lessons with him. I believe he still teaches there (btw, its Dellview Music, owned and operated by Don and Gail Pack).
