The Preacher" and BE's monster licks

Buddy plays some Pat Martino licks at the beginning of his improvisation of "The Preacher" on his CD of live at St. Louis in '77. I would like to know how he played it-just to know. It is similar to his "monster licks" on his website, but somewhat different. I find it the most difficult kind of thing that exists for a steel. I have a box that cuts the speed to 1/2 or 1/3 while restoring the pitch and still can't get the base notes.

Anyone out there want to tackle tabbing it out?

Bob, if you are referring to the 1/2 tone step down series of notes while randomly changing octaves, I think that is exactly what he is doing, however, I have tried it many times and never got it right. I think you need two or three minds working at the same time to do it. That way you could assign a mind to each octave. I think the lick is impossible.

It's chromatic. It's descending. It's only three octaves. It should be easy.

Buddy told me a long time ago that he didn't play anything hard. (Yeah, sure...) My hands just can't seem to learn the correct pattern for the extended lick. I can make it thru one octave, but don't venture much past that...
