I asked this before and never got an answer, but I thought I would try again.
Barbara Fairchild "For All The Right Reasons".
Someone told me it was Emmons, but I am not too sure about that.

Richard,I haven't heard the particular cut you spoke of,but if it sounds like Buddy Emmons and it ain't...it could be Barbara's ex-husband,Randy Reinhard...I probably misspelled his last name...sorry.
RR can sound as much like Buddy Emmons as any man...I've sat in front of him and heard it.
Do you know what year the tune was recorded?Randy played on some albums with Barbara...let us know what you find out...thanks!

1977 is when the album came out. I have an Mp3 of the song. I'll try to get it posted on pico song tomorrow. Gotta get some sleep.

I don’t mean to rain on your enthusiasm but I was so impressed with the singing, arrangement and production I had to comment.
The recording seemed much too digital sounding do be a recording from 1977. Maybe a digitized version.
Of course I realize it was digitized when it was made into an MP3
Not saying what was played wasn’t good or you couldn’t learn from it just that I didn't hear Emmons and the tone didn't match the acoustic crispness of the rest of the recording.
Hopefully the tone and feel just got lost when it was reduced to an MP3 or otherwise I would have to say the recording would have been better without the PSG. |

I disagree. The steel is the only thing that saves this song from the insipidness of the gurgling electric piano and tinkling acoustic guitar. A waste of fine singing from Ms. Fairchild. |

That was recorded in 1977 or there abouts. I remember learning this song for our girl singer in the late 70's and I also have the album in storage somewhere. It may have been remastered and re-released, but it is the same recording.
Didn't sound like Emmons to me either, but that's what some told me a long time ago.

Most likly Randy ,they were married around the time that was recorded & Barb was doing a Branson show on wknds,driving from StL.I used to see her in a long black limousine going down I-44 several times.I never picked with Barb but I do know her,been a long time since we spoke tho.Could it possibly be Robbie Turner.It has a little of his feel to it.

i thought it was very nice! nice tone and licks on the steel and barbara's got a real sweetness to her voice. i don't know what bo's talking about.
i used to hate that fender rhodes sound but now i kind of dig it in moderation. |

I agree with Chris on the fender keys
I like it better now then when they were first used
the first thing that pops out to me is how
uncluddered the tune is
todays country is jammed to death with drums
and loud distorted guitar and a bunch of other
drum sounds jeez when is it enough?
I long for the simple country tunes of yesteryears
