I received my new Melbert 8 on Friday and it is amazing. I can't say enough good things about Bob and his work. I went with Maple neck, walnut wings and a George L pickup. His guitars are an amazing value. Not only did he build the whole thing, he included a TKL bag AND a Paloma slide.(that was a nice surprise!) SInce i come from the finger-style guitar world, I have always used this type of slide. I never knew there was one for steel.
Part of what was so great about working with Bob was how he really made it work for ME. I told him what tuning I would use(Byrd A7/C6 combo) and he determined the right set of strings and I ordered extras of those as well.(He gets them from SIT and can make an exact match for the tuning, at a very reasonable cost.)
Pics to follow tonight. Here is how you can reach Bob: http://www.musonmt.com/

Here are a few nice shots of the Melbert 8. This is my first proper steel and I love it!!!
Bob-I have a feeling I will be entering a period of S.A.S. (Steel acquisition syndrome)
