I think I went through the whole New Riders' catalogue. First the ones with Garcia because they were the easiest (the very first song might have been "Henry"), then everything Buddy Cage played on. Later I added country music from the '60s. I actually made a list of all the tunes I learned.

My first few weeks of playing was merely figuring out chords and grips, but the first song I actually sat down and figured out was Marshall Tucker Band's "Fire On The Mountain". Second was "Searchin' For A Rainbow" and third was Poco's "Bad Weather".
