Brand new to the site and to the steel world. Glad to be here. It just bought the guitar from an older fella that used to bring the guitar to shows to get some players to sign the bottom. Question is, does this add value to the guitar? What would it be worth?
No certificates were included as the fella probably just did it for the helluv it. Any info would be appreciated.Some of the signatures, that I can make out anyway, are Kayton Roberts, Doug Jernigan,DeWitt Scott, Jeff Bradshaw, the others I cannot make out.

It's cool but I don't think the value of the guitar changes a lot. _________________ ----------------------------------

Yeah, I wasnt sure myself. Thought it was cool as well. The previous owner didnt think too much about it.He told me about them when he was packing it up and had it upside down.."Oh yeah,it has some signatures on it too" was about all he said kind of as a matter of factly.
Thanks for the info on the other outstanding signatures though..

Do autographs add value? Well, I feel they're more of a sentimental/emotional addition, and they would never hurt the value. Personally, I wouldn't think they added a lot of monetary value...unless it was some very famous player's personal guitar, one he had used in his career for some time. Whereas some player might be inclined to pay a hundred or two more for a guitar with autographs, I don't think most players would. The guitar you have should fetch $2,000-$2,500.
Keep in mind that, in terms of investment value, steel guitars are completely different than straight guitars, which can have tremendous collector value. Underneath my Jackson Steel, David and Harry Jackson signed it, so it's got a lot of value to it because they work at my favorite steel company, Jackson Steel Guitars and they built my best steel. |

Definitely Cool, but no monetary value, IMO.
Years ago I took my seat back to some shows and collected autographs.
That seat no longer gigs with me, but it's very cool in my music room.

Thanks so much to all who submitted info on my LDG. It is much appreciated. The seat is very impressive.
I love the steel and am making great progress on it. I have played 6 strings for over 30 yrs, so this helps. Took me a bit to get used to the fingerpicks to the point I actually contemplated not using them at all. I persevered and now feel comfortable with them. Very glad as I now know that without them, my technique would have suffered.I only wish I had started to learn earlier. Better late than never. I really have to thank a new friend whom I met by chance one day in a local music store with his D-10. Knowing that I had a local resource for help and inspiration made the difference.I am now obsessed with the tone and sound,and with the steel culture as well. I feel priviledged to now be a part of such a great, talented and supportive community.
