I just finished building one of my closed kick back monitor style speaker cabs to use with a steel guitar rig in stereo. I have a bunch of "monkey fur" from the 90's I need to use up, so that's what I covered it with. It's just a tad larger and heavier than I had planned, but sounds great with the 1201-8 Super Structure BW through MosValve/Boss/Roland stuff. I'm still tweaking the ports, but so far it's exactly what I wanted to achieve. I plan to build another one the same dims. and install a 1501 in it.
[Essentially a monitor enclosure. I suppose if you have a Peavey monitor loaded with a 1201-8, it would be the same or similar.]
I can place these @ 3 or 4 different angles, in front, behind, to the side or wherever I need them and don't have to worry about stands. I can point one at the band or just use them as personal monitors to hear myself if miced.
I also have 90's vintage paper cone 1203-4's and original spider web 1201-8's to experiment with for optimum sound.
