My RKL drops my 2, 5 string. What are my options for tuning my 5th string? Thanks!

I've never seen someone drop 2 and 5 together.
I have a hard time seeing that anything other than frustrating.
I'd rearrange to either 2 and 9 or 5 and 10.

The old school boy's used to do 2 and 6 a full tone, on the same lever, before the Franklin lever became in and got the knee used up. I have never seen 2 and 5, but...You never know what a certain player wants, it sounds a bit of a conflict with some standard chop's.

2 and 6?
I have (I put it on my first guitar to suit a Buddy Emmons tab: I converted 7 raise to 6 lower on a pull-release Marlen) 1 raise to G and 6 lower to F#, and have since 80. I have its analog (3+ to F#/Gb and 6-- to F) on the Bb6.

I have also seen the lower on 2 on the same lever as the 6 string lower to F#. This would be a conflict on an all pull guitar, but on a Push-pull, the raise on string 6 would over ride the lower and get rid of that conflict for licks in the pedals down position. I would imagine that most of those players with that configuration were playing push-pulls. Of course, you still have issues using string 2 changes in the no pedals position.

Winnie's book show's some well known players that had that 2 and 6, i cant think of their name off hand, it's in the co-ped section.

It would be interesting if someone who has the book could either scan and post those copedents, or just supply the names of the players who dropped 6 and 2 on the same lever. That way, we could probably tell who was using these changes on a push/pull as opposed to an all pull. I think we would find most were using these on a push/pull.

I tuned my RKL to: 2-D 6-G. Works for me. I didn't recall seeing any 2-6 tunings in copedent section of Winnie's book. I will look further into it and post......If I can figure out how to to it!
Thanks!

The Winston book is probably before most of the people that do lower 6 started doing so. In storage somewhere, I have a tuning chart that John Hughey wrote out for me and at the time, he had the G# to F# on the same lever as the string 2 lowers.

In the book, it shows Doug Jernigan lowering 2 to C# (lower to D on a different lever) and lowering 6 to F#. Pretty sure he was playing an Emmons during that time.

Over the years, I have seen others do the same on a push/pull. Since the B pedal would override the G# to F# lower on 6, You could still use the 2nd string lowers with the pedals down. It did screw up the b7 on string 2 with no pedals as the G# on 6 would be an F#, but you could just stay off string 6 if need be.
