Doug,

Could that be SPEEDY WEST? The picture looks familiar.

The tuner buttons and the fretboard look kinda "Fender-ish", but I don't recognize the pickup covers or the control plate/switches. Could be a modified Fender Custom? I bet Jody Carver would know who this is.

Mystery solved! Thanks guys.

There are a lot of old clips of Billy singing on youtube, but I was especially impressed with this video of Billy playing Steel Guitar Rag... standing up playing a Fender pedal steel guitar! Most of his technique is non-pedal, but I think he does push the pedals a few times. He plays some nice hammer-ons and pull-offs in his solo section. Hot stuff! -------> CLICK

Several years ago, probably 20, a good buddy of mine, Crazy Carl Scroggins, gave me a CD copy of an Album Milly Mize made as a tribute to Bob Wills. It was all BW's songs and he used Musicians who had played with wills that were still with us. I.E. Herb Remington, Tiny Moore, Joe Holly, Johnny Gimble, etc. Billy did all the singing and there were some great arramgements. I can no longer find the copy I had but there has to be some originals out there somewhere. With all of Billy's talents he truly loved Western Swing !
