John Hughey, Told me so himself. I have had that cd since it came out Great recording of a great song.

John Hughey was like a special vintage of an old fine Wine. The older he got, IMHO, the better he beame. He played what fit the venue and never overplayed to just impress Musicians

know his conway and ballad stuff not so much shuffle and faster material...
yep JR, the best known recording was done by buck owens.

That's great to hear john play like that, i would have sworn that was 'Frankin-esque' style...great playing, nice and tight and snappy. I been guessing bad lately too! Very Happy

For something completely different, pick up a copy of "Richard Betts- Highway Call" featuring Mr. Hughey playing the parts that Duane Allman might have played, and stretching out on a couple of long jam pieces, primarily on C6. Mind-blowing!

This CD may be out of print, there a few left on Amazon for only $9.

I too was awed the first time I heard John step away from his style and start playing the really close to west coast style but believe me, he could do it. I've got a cut of a tune called that kind of guy that was recorded by the Twitty Birds band. I could have sworn it was J.D on steel but it was John.
