It is easy to play the steel guitar. Playing so that the audience finds it pleasing is the difficult act.

US Army 1965-1968. Basic at Ft. Leonard Wood, AIT at Ft.Ord, Assigned to CENTAG between Mannheim and Heidelberg, Germany. While there a band came through playing the EM club, one of the members played I believe either a Fender 800 or a Fender 1000. He took a group of triplets up the neck and I was hooked forever. Thus started my journey into the insanity of learning to play pedal steel guitar. I, too was proud to serve my country and do my part.

Couple years in Navy -Active Duty USS Mississenwa AO-144
I spent some time on the huge Oil Tanker circa 1969-1972 spent time steaming down south past Bermuda Triangle (Strange Place) to Roosevelt Rhoads, Puerto Rico US Naval station. I was on the verge of a Mediterrean tour of duty when my legs gave out on me, out on Medical with Honorable Discharge.
