AJ Ghent photo's and video clips from NorCal 8/26 & 8/27

Post by Jon Sawyer »

Howdy,

Here are some video's I shot from the Col. Bruce shows the weekend before last, featuring AJ Ghent on lap steel. See attached pics below of his guitar and rig. He has a Gold Tone endorsement, he plays an LS-8 with 2 Lollar Chicago 8's and on-off switches for all 3 of his pickups. Just the 4 pedals, I'd never seen the EP signal booster, he said every guitarist should use one. The little Fender Blue Junior III amp is mine (note: He only used it in San Francisco on Sunday night, he used someone else's amp for the festival on Saturday). As for tuning, he told me it was E7 but tuned down a whole step to D - He referred to it as old-school sacred steel D minor. I am hoping some of his mojo rubbed off on my amp :-)

Later, Jon

P.S. On a completely unrelated note: I am very much enjoying, from the forum, Mike Daly's "Rock of Ages" cd.

Any idea how he spells that old-school Sacred Steel tuning?

I asked, he said: Google sacred steel E7 and tune it down 1 whole step.
